A note about music from Dr. Rebecca Whited, our Music Director...
CHOIR - Initially, we will combine the voices of all our singers at St George. Our goal will be to grow into more age appropriate ensembles. In addition to learning songs, we will also learn healthy singing technique, music theory, and some music history.
Voice for Life, a program within the Royal School of Church Music is:
A structured guide to vocal training
• Based on graded targets with informal assessment
• Designed for use in schools, churches, and other community choirs
• Easy to use with a clear layout
The graded targets consist of instruction, experience, and informal assessment of musical skills and theory. The Light Blue and Dark Blue levels prepare the chorister for the Bronze award, Red helps the candidate prepare for the Silver award, and Yellow helps the candidate prepare for the Gold award.
BRONZE AWARD (optional. This award must be assessed through an appointed adjudicator)
SILVER AWARD (optional. This award must be assessed through an appointed adjudicator)
GOLD AWARD (optional. This award must be assessed through an appointed adjudicator)
Examination for the formal awards is entirely at the option of the individual singer. Choristers may work through the VOICE for LIFE program and choose not to participate in the formal assessment for the Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards.
A chorister must be a member of an RSCM America affiliated choir.
